Advance Psychological Assessment - Model Classroom
This course provides students with a comprehensive discussion of the theory and practice of psychological assessment as applied in the counseling profession. The course covers two separate but related central foci: (1) the students critically examine the psychometric theories that provide bases for psychological assessment; and (2) the course enables the students to have hands-on training in the in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of basic and advanced-level psychological tests used in measuring intelligence, aptitude, achievement, interests, attitude, and personality. Students are expected to acquire both conceptual and practical competence in the design and conduct of psychological assessment for counseling.
As an advanced course, Advanced Psychological Assessment will challenge graduate students in counseling understanding the nature and practice of psychological assessment in counseling. Towards the end of the course, students are expected to design test batteries used for screening as they identify the specific areas to be assessed and the purpose of the assessment. They are also expected to administer this test battery, interpret the results, and communicate the report.
As a board exam course, this course must only be taught by a Registered Guidance Counselor or a Registered Psychologist with advanced training in psychological assessment (as mandated by RA 9258- Guidance and Counseling Act of 2004 and RA 10029- Psychology Act of 2009).
