The Teaching of Social Studies in the 21st Century is a Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) course that probes deeper into the practice of Social Studies teaching. It examines more carefully the Araling Panlipunan curriculum, the different methods and strategies appropriate, as well as, the teaching and learning materials effective in implementing curricular standards in a social studies classroom. Employing the framework of the 21st Century Skills, pre-service social studies teachers will be able to design, implement, and assess teaching and learning opportunities for diverse learners, environments, and socio-cultural contexts. Students in the course will perform an actual demonstration-teaching showing how appropriate methodologies and strategies can be used in a social studies classroom.

This course intends to introduce students to the concepts and applications of statistics. Emphasis is placed on the analysis and interpretations of data. The course attempts to introduce the student to the practical technology of statistics i.e. Microsoft Excel. The course is a prerequisite to the course IT Based Application Project.
