This course provides pre-service teachers with a comprehensive understanding of the classical and emerging psychological principles and theories that underpin human learning and development. It explores the cognitive, emotional, social, moral, and physical development of learners from childhood through adolescence and examines how these developmental processes influence learning and behavior in educational settings. Through lectures, observations, group activities, collecting and analyzing data on child and adolescent development, and symposia, students will be equipped with the knowledge to understand the diverse psychological factors that influence development. In the end, the pre-service teachers are expected to foster a sense of self-respect and respect for others and develop age-appropriate instructional activities.

NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM - TEDPATHS 1-I-25 NSTP LTS 11 (S 07:00AM-11:00AM)

The NSTP-LTS focuses on training pre-service teachers (PSTs) to become facilitators of literacy and numeracy in marginalized sectors of society, particularly in underprivileged communities. It aims to develop civic responsibility, enhance literacy and numeracy skills, promote community involvement, and build teaching competence. NSTP LTS 11, as a course, is focused on the theoretical component of the whole NSTP. In this course, PSTs are introduced to NSTP and its importance, as well as the role of education in community development. Thus, NSTP LTS 11 prepares PSTs in the community immersion program. At the end of the course, they are expected to plan and develop community capstone projects aimed at developing literacy and numeracy skills. They are expected to apply the design thinking process.
