This course equips students with content and pedagogical knowledge and skills in integrating technology in the language and literature class. It exposes pre-service English teachers to various educational technologies and applications that can be used to support attainment of outcomes and enrich the language and literature learning experience. It also trains future English majors in selecting, adopting, adapting, and creating technology-mediated content or teaching materials for effective language and literature instruction.

This course enhances students’ understanding of English grammar from different points of view, thereby, enabling them to effectively and ethically apply this understanding inside and outside an ESL classroom. In-person and online lectures, discussions, collaborative tasks and projects enable students to study the structures in terms of three interrelated dimensions or domains: form, function, and use as they operate on the sub-sentential, sentential, and discourse levels. Students are expected to demonstrate broad and profound grammatical knowledge as they engage both in written and oral scholarly discourse.

This course empowers pre-service teachers to become adept at integrating technology into their instructional practice. It will delve into both established and emerging advancements, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and the Internet of Things (IoT), exploring their potential to enhance student learning outcomes. Through a variety of engaging, learner-centered activities, the pre-service teachers will strengthen their Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) by leveraging traditional and emerging technologies in subject-specific applications, designing human-centered learning experiences by creating adaptable and innovative solutions, and promoting positive and responsible technology use to address educational concerns in diverse learning contexts. By the end, they will be prepared to design, develop, implement, and assess technology-integrated lessons and instructional materials, ensuring they thrive in today’s dynamic educational landscape.
