CURRICULUM AND PRACTICE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION - GRAD-CERT ECE 7-1 ECED 703 ( )

This course focuses on the rudiments of curriculum development and pedagogical approaches in early childhood education. It encourages students to discuss different curriculum models and pedagogical approaches and requires them to analyze, evaluate, and compare each with the other models in terms of content, possible instructional strategies and material requisites appropriate to the developmental needs of young learners. In particular, the course requires the students to develop curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 3 aligned with DepEd competencies. The course intends graduate students to indigenize or localize approaches suited to the needs of young Filipino learners.
Additionally, this course aims for graduate students to design activities that enhance literacy and numeracy development for children from preschool to third grade. These activities will be grounded in the curricular models and approaches discussed in this course.
