This course explores the interrelationship of globalization, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and sustainability issues, focusing on their impact in the Philippine context. Students will examine the economic, political, technological, environmental, and socio-cultural dimensions of globalization, assess progress on the SDGs, and analyze sustainability challenges. Methodology includes lectures, interactive discussions, group projects, and the utilization of multimedia resources. Further, students will also learn to use data science and mapping tools to better understand and visualize the complexities of globalization, evaluate SDG initiatives, and analyze sustainability data. By the end of the course, students will critically assess the impact of globalization, propose actionable sustainability solutions, and foster informed global citizenship rooted in the Philippine context.
